This hands-on workshop outlines the reasons chlorides are impacting our streams, vehicles and infrastructure due to a dramatic increase in road salt use over the past 50 years and ways you can reduce road salt use.  The morning session includes education on ice melter types and when to use them, application rates and methods, how to prepare a snow and ice plan for your site to maintain safe facilities.  The afternoon session includes hands-on outdoor session with several types of snow removal equipment from hand spreaders to brine applicators with a lesson on calibration of equipment.  Interactive sessions will allow for interaction to learn from other municipalities about their best practices.
